The Dove Foundation
The Dove Foundation is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to encourage the creation, production, distribution and consumption of family friendly entertainment.
In 1991 The Dove Foundation began promoting family-friendly entertainment. Their standards and criteria are based on Judeo/Christian values, free from the pressure of commercial interests. They take a positive approach of commending high-quality, wholesome movies rather than condemning filmmakers for not meeting those standards.
Dove produced “Hollywood’s Impact on Family Values,” a television special hosted by Steve Allen. Dove also initiated its first Dove Family Film Festival® as well as its first Dove Movie Marathon®. They developed The Dove Movie Channel® for hospitalized children debuted in partnership with Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities.
The Dove Foundation commissioned the Profitability Study of MPAA-Rated Movies to examine revenues and negative costs for widely released movies from 1988-1997. The study was updated in 2005.
