Take a bite out of an APPLE!

And what a perfect lesson in marketing! Does your local filmmakers group (formal or informal) think about hosting local showings with venues that are friendly with, or will benefit from building credibility your group and the people you know?

There are a wide variety of venues that could be interested in hosting indie film series...or even monthly showings on an ongoing basis.

• Museums
• Parks
• College departments
• High school theater/AV departments
• Camera and Film equipment/supply retailers
• Apple stores...duh!
• Restaurants with a meeting room
• Churches/Synagogues/etc. (targeted topics)
• Nonprofit organizations (especially targeted documentaries such as nature, social justice, etc.)
• Hip clothing stores that cater to youth
• Cemeteries!!! (Yes, series on the lawn)

...you get the idea. The possibilities are limited to your matchmaking of venue with appropriate subject matter for the venue.

Commercial sponsors such as retailers are also likely to throw in some refreshments if you ask nicely and give them some nice recognition for their sponsorship. (It's hard to get media coverage for small businesses of ALL kinds...not just movie producers!)
